AN APPRAISAL OF FEMINIST POLITICAL RHETORIC AND ITS UNINTENDED EFFECTS ON MARITAL FIDELITY: A STUDY OF ABUJA POLITICAL FORUMS
Background of the Study
Feminist political rhetoric has significantly impacted public policies and social norms surrounding gender relations. In political forums, particularly in urban centers like Abuja, feminist discourse plays a crucial role in challenging traditional gender roles, advocating for women’s rights, and promoting gender equality. However, some aspects of feminist rhetoric, especially when taken to extremes, have been linked to the decline in marital fidelity, as they challenge the traditional institution of marriage and promote alternative family structures. This study seeks to explore the unintended effects of feminist political rhetoric on marital fidelity, specifically within Abuja’s political forums.
Statement of the Problem
While feminist political rhetoric has advanced gender equality, the unintended consequences of these discourses on marital fidelity have not been fully examined. This study aims to evaluate how feminist political rhetoric, particularly in Abuja's political forums, affects societal perceptions of marriage and marital fidelity, focusing on its potential role in increasing marital dissolution and infidelity.
Objectives of the Study
To evaluate the impact of feminist political rhetoric on perceptions of marital fidelity in Abuja.
To assess the unintended effects of feminist rhetoric on marital stability and the rise of infidelity.
To examine how political forums in Abuja contribute to the shaping of public views on marriage, fidelity, and gender relations.
Research Questions
How does feminist political rhetoric in Abuja’s forums influence perceptions of marital fidelity?
What unintended effects does feminist political rhetoric have on marital stability and infidelity?
How do political forums in Abuja contribute to changing societal views on marriage and fidelity?
Significance of the Study
This study is significant because it sheds light on the impact of feminist political rhetoric on marriage and fidelity in Nigerian society, particularly in Abuja’s political landscape. Understanding how these discourses influence societal views will help policymakers, political analysts, and social workers better address the unintended consequences of feminist ideologies in public policy.
Scope and Limitation of the Study
The study will focus on feminist political rhetoric in Abuja’s political forums, analyzing its impact on perceptions of marital fidelity. It will not extend to other regions of Nigeria or to other forms of media or discourse. The research will focus on political rhetoric and will not explore the personal experiences of individuals affected by these ideas.
